Use the numerous resources on the Internet to give your students additional avenues for authentic writing. There are tools designed to help students in the writing process as well as many safe sites on the Internet to publish student writing.

Prewriting

Writing with Writers

This is an online writer's workshop by Scholastic. Students work through the steps of the writing process with a children's author. Workshops are organized by author or genre. Students can submit their writing to be published online.

RubiStar

Make sure students have the scoring rubric in hand before they begin their project. RubiStar is a terrific tool to easily create rubrics for a wide variety of student products.
